Precision Not Required: an improvisational journey to joy
Site Specific Group Thesis Performance by Dance BFA Candidate Kinsey McCartor
When: Saturday April 5th, 2008 4:30 P.M. Performance will last about an hour
Where: Skateland Roller Rink, 208 W. Curtis Road, Savoy, IL
Description:
Precision Not Required is a live improvisational movement and music exploration through which nine dancers and three musicians discover and share the impulses and intersections of a journey to free joy of the body, mind, and spirit. The journey also features the premier performance of ‘Cosmology’ a new ensemble assembled by local trumpeter Christopher Moors. In the playful form of contact improvisation the dancers will freely roll and jump, daringly swing and fall, tenderly embrace, or spiritedly evade each other and the earth. They may speak, sing, or very simply vocalize the tensions within themselves and between each other and the musicians. Together, musicians, dancers, and audience will watch, respond, and breathe toward new perspectives of elation. Precision Not Required is appropriate for all ages. Admission is FREE. Prior to the performance Skateland will have open skating from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. and again following the performance at 7:00-10:00 p.m.
